What does “Child Resistant” mean?
Child-resistant packaging is packaging that is designed or constructed in such a way that it cannot be opened by young children within a reasonable period of time or makes it difficult for them to access the contents, but is not unduly difficult for adults to use.
The regulations are based on protocols of performance tests of packages with real children to determine if the packages can be opened. More recently, additional package tests are being conducted to determine if the elderly or people with disabilities are able to open the same packages.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission stated in a press release that “there is no such thing as child-resistant packaging.

How is a child-resistant package classified?
1. the closure is incomprehensible to children, two movements are required simultaneously to open the lid (e.g. push & turn).
2. the closure is out of reach for children, the closure or the buttons are too far apart or too large for children’s hands. the closure must be opened with too much force for children.

How long has your factory been making child-resistant packaging?
For over 20 years for all types of tin packaging, but in the last 2 years we have set up a department focused exclusively on child-resistant packaging.

Order and shipment

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for customized tins?
MOQ is 10000 pieces

Can I order a can with my own design?
Yes, under custom made cans, we can make your own design, a minimum of 10000 pieces per design.

How long does it take to make custom cans?
For orders above the minimum order quantity, production may take 30-45 days, for orders below the minimum order quantity, production may take 50-60 days (only after the customer approves the handmade samples).

How long does it take to make a new childproof pewter mold?
For a complete set of new CR molds, it can take up to 3-6 months for our R&D department to research, develop, test and produce. However, if you have your own CR concepts with detailed engineering drawings, we are happy to develop and manufacture them for you.

Do we own the mold if we pay the cost of developing the mold?
Yes, the mold is yours.

Do we have intellectual property on the childproof cans?
That depends on who developed the concept. If you come to us with your own detailed technical drawing, it is 100% yours.
If we developed the concept for the CR can and you paid for the mold, the intellectual property always belongs to the factory and the mold belongs to you.

Can you make our own exclusive childproof cans?
Yes, we are happy to have your own design and concept that we can produce on your behalf. We are happy to sign a confidentiality agreement for IP and exclusivity.

Do you make pre-production samples and what is the cost?
Yes, we can make pre-production samples for existing tin molds. Only when the customer agrees to pre-production and signs off the samples, we will start production.
Sample cost per design US$350 + FedEx cost. (This cost is for existing molds only).
When a new design is constructed, the samples will be provided automatically once the mold is ready.

Can I order my can with accessories?
Yes, we can procure all types of accessories on your behalf at cost.

Can you co-pack for me?
Yes, we can do the co-packing for a small labor charge.

Can you supply samples?
Yes, we can provide free samples of our existing pewter molds if available, so that you can judge the size, shape and design. However, all international freight charges must be paid by the customer.
For custom made tins, the cost of samples will be charged according to the quotation provided by your vendor.
